Satyam Shivam Sundaram Meditation – Sound Healing – Chakra Yoga Healing Therapy Centre Offers Training & Retreats In Arambol – Mandrem Beach North Goa, India
About Goa
Goa is a state in southwest India, along the western coastline next to the Arabian Sea. The smallest state area-wise and the fourth smallest by population; Goa attracts thousands of tourists every year from all over the world for its beaches, places of worship and world heritage architecture. It is considered to be the best state in India regarding infrastructure and the quality of life. Also, it is also regarded as one of the safest places in India when it comes to women safety. It has rich flora and fauna being on the Western Ghats range which is a biodiversity hotspot.
Panaji is the capital of Goa and Vasco da Gama is the largest city. Being an old Portuguese city, you can still see the cultural influence in the historic town of Margao.
North Goa:
North Goa starts from the walls of Fort Agauda next to Panaji and goes all the way up North to Maharashtra border. This whole stretch of sand is the home of backpackers, peace seekers, sunbathers and party lovers. The beauty of North Goa lies in its beaches, and each beach has a quality of its own. Apart from Arambol, the other famous beaches are Sinquerim, Calangute, Candolim, Baga, Anjuna, Vagator and Morjim. Let’s read about them in details:
Candolim Beach: Closest beach to the Panaji City. Most of its property is owned by Font Agauda beach resort and some travel companies offering tour packages. It is not exactly a backpackers or long stayers friendly beach as it’s almost impossible to find a hostel or an individual accommodation here as there are mostly hotels or resorts with attached restaurants.
Candolim beach is, however, famous for its water sports as one can do Parasailing and Water Skiing. The prices are quite normal compared to Western countries.
Calangute Beach attracts one of the best crowds that ever come to Goa. That’s where everybody heads towards as soon as they step into Goa. That makes it one of the most crowded beaches in the whole of Goa; both in peak and low season. Located around 15 km from Panaji, there is a long stretch of sand, which goes as far as seven km! Hence, the nickname “Queen of Beaches.” Most of the tour operators are located here where you can book packages for the rest of your stay in Goa, no matter where you are going to be staying.
There is an uninterrupted stretch of hotels and guesthouses from Calangute all the way to Baga, all thanks to the years of tourism. Calangute village has all the necessary facilities that a tourist might need here like the post office, foreign exchange, banks, ATMs, travel agencies, and all sorts of medical facilities.
For shopping lovers, there are showrooms where you can buy exquisite Kashmiri, Tibetan, Indonesian and Rajasthani handicrafts. These showrooms are all lined up along the main street leading towards Anjuna. The beach may not exactly impress a lot of people because of the lack of coconut trees or any traditional activities around. The waves are quite high and strong which might be suitable for water sports.
Baga Beach: Compared to Calangute Beach, it is quieter and a little isolated. Lack of major tourist activities, a retreat house on the top of the hill and a small creek add to the unique beauty of Baga Beach. As one moves along the western coastline of Goa next to the Arabian Sea, starting from Fort Agauda going towards Sinquerim merging into Calangute, Baga Beach offers a nice little break for one to relax before moving on to Anjuna and finally ending at Chapora Fort while going through Vagator Beach.
Vagator beach, located 22 km from Panaji city, is worth every bit of your time. Located next to Anjuna, Vagator beach is quite secluded and offers one of the best trance parties and festivals around in the whole of North Goa. A crescent-shaped beach, overlooking Fort Chapora, Vagator beach is an ideal place for midnight party lovers. For those who don’t have a vehicle of their own, there are regular buses from Mapusa and Calangute Beach to Vagator.
Anjuna Beach is a favorite among hippies who come here to be part of rave beach parties with trance music. It is most crowded during the full moon when there is a wild and crazy atmosphere with tourist enjoying the luminous beach with loud waves creating an ambience with trance beats playing in the background. For those looking for a break over a weekend from their Yoga or Meditation or any other classes they are signed up for, Anjuna is your go-to place. Don’t forget to miss the Saturday night market, which is an interesting combination of shopping, food, music and dance. It can be easily accessed from Arambol or any other beach in the North Goa.
Arambol Beach:
Arambol beach in North Goa to experience lively, musical, hippie-kind of lifestyle among people from all over the world for whom Arambol is like a home away from home. The positive vibes, the simplicity, the kindness and the friendliness will make you fall in love with this place at the first sight.
In spite of growing popularity as a beach destination, Arambol still retains its simplicity and uncommercialised feel. The locals have insisted on not having any fancy resorts or classy hotels, thus allowing the local guesthouse owners to run their business smoothly and tension-free. That’s one the main factors that why this place is famous among backpackers and long stayers. Here you can find cheap accommodation and affordable restaurants, which will not make a huge hole in your budget, and you can spend as much time as you want doing your favorite activities; be it Yoga, Meditation, music and cooking classes or if you are seeking relaxed and peaceful time away from your busy schedule.
